Republic of Fiji Signs Memorandum of Understanding with ASTM

ASTM International has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Republic of Fiji through its Ministry of Trade, Co-operatives, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Communications' Department of National Trade Measurement and Standards (DNTMS). The MoU with the island nation is the second among the Pacific Islands and ASTM's 124th.

Byron K. Hayes received The Award of Merit for his contributions to the medical and surgical materials and devices committee [More].

The environmental assessment, risk management and corrective action committee presented the Gwen Eklund Award of Excellence to Dennis Hollatz [More].

The medical and surgical materials and devices committee issued one of its 2023 Patrick G. Laing Awards to Larry Kay [More].

The 2023 Charles W. Briggs Award was presented to Curtis Powell for his contributions to the nondestructive testing committee [More].

Richard Rosati received the Award of Merit for his contributions to the consumer products committee [More].

The unmanned aircraft systems committee awarded its 2023 Michael Glasgow Award to Andrew Thurling [More]. 

GLOBAL NOTES

Work on Harmonizing Petroleum Test Methods in West Africa Concludes

ASTM and the American Petroleum Institute (API) —working under the Standards Alliance — have concluded their work conducting a three-year project focused on harmonizing petroleum test methods in West Africa. Participants from Côte d’Ivorie, Ghana, Nigeria, and Senegal recently attended a workshop held in Dakar, Senegal. Training wrapped up in June at the meeting of ASTM's petroleum products, liquid fuels and lubricants committee.
