MoU Partner AIDSMO Helps Celebrate ASTM's 125th Anniversary

On March 15, at the 58th meeting of the Arab High Committee for Standardization in Morocco, ASTM's James Olshefsky, director of external relations, spoke to distinguished members of AIDSMO along with a gathering of standards development professionals from across the globe. At the event, H.E. Eng. Adel Saqer Al-Saqer, the head of AIDSMO, presented Olshefsky with a gift, along with a cake, to help celebrate ASTM's 125th anniversary.

Light Sport Aircraft

The committee has approved a new standard that addresses aeroelasticity requirements of light sport aircraft [More].


Robotics, Automation, and Autonomous Systems

A proposed standard will focus on the use of hardware and peripherals in robotic training systems [More].


Sensory Evaluation

A proposed standard will outline procedures for measurement of time-related (temporal) perceptions in consumer interactions with products [More].


Unmanned Aircraft Systems

A proposed standard will help identify communications security principles and relevant frameworks for securing ad hoc uncrewed aircraft system communications [More].


Waste Management

The committee is developing a proposed test method that focuses on detecting hazardous hydrocarbons in soil [More].


Water Quality

Two proposed standards are devoted to different aspects of water quality. The first will provide a screening method to assess contaminants in water samples prior to a more detailed analysis. The second will help to assess the potential for bioavailable aluminum in water samples to be toxic to aquatic life [More].

AWARDS

Petroleum products, liquid fuels, and lubricants committee has presented its Sydney D. Andrews Scroll of Achievement Award to James Brown [More].

Vincent Drnevich has been presented with the A. Ivan Johnson Outstanding Achievement Award for his contributions to the soil and rock committee [More].

GLOBAL NOTES

ASTM Staff Attend United Nations Water Conference

ASTM International’s Teresa J. Cendrowska, vice president of Global Cooperation, and Emmanuel Escoto, manager of Global Outreach and Engagement, recently attended the United Nations Water Conference 2023 where ASTM submitted comments on the role of standards and its global partnerships in advancing SDG6 on Clean Water and Sanitation.
