ASTM Signs MoU with Mexican National Standards Body

ASTM International has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and commercial agreement with the Mexican National Standardization and Certification Organization for Building and Construction (ONNCCE), one of Mexico’s largest standards development organizations.

The agreement was signed by Architect Evangelina Hirata, director general of ONNCCE, and Kathie Morgan, president of ASTM International. For more information — including a Spanish translation of our press release — click here.

New Robotics Subcommittee to Address Grasping and Manipulation

The robotics, automation, and autonomous systems committee has formed a new subcommittee on grasping and manipulation.

Out of six proposed standards currently planned for development, the subcommittee plans to register two by the end of 2022, on grasp strength and finger repeatability. Learn more.

ICAM 2022 To Be Held October 31 to November 4 in Orlando

Sponsored by the ASTM International Additive Manufactured Center of Excellence (AM CoE), the seventh annual ASTM International Conference on Additive Manufacturing (ICAM) is ASTM's flagship event related to standardization, qualification, and certification with an emphasis on industry specific requirements addressing the entire AM process chain.

National Science Foundation Project to Support ASTM Additive Manufacturing Consortium

A new U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) research project to Southern University, Louisiana State University, and Auburn University is expected to contribute significantly to ASTM International’s newly established Consortium on Materials Data & Standardization (CMDS).

The newly funded $4 million NSF EPSCoR award is to conduct research on rapid qualification for additively manufactured (AM) critical components used in key industries including aviation, space, and medical industries. Learn more.

Vice President of Global Cooperation Teresa J. Cendrowska (left) and Director of External Relations James Olshefsky (right) met late last month with His Excellency, the Governor of SASO, Saudi Standards Metrology and Quality Organization, Dr. Sa'ad bin Othman Al-Kasabi (center). 

In the fifteen years of ASTM's MoU partnership — celebrated with special recognition here — SASO has cited over 2,300 ASTM International standards that have been either adopted, referenced, or used as the basis of national standards.
