TIPS & FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQs

Q. Does ASTM have a process for homogeneity and stability verification for its PTP samples?

A: For some PT Programs, the uniformity of the bulk product to be used is visually verified, inspected for no variations in color, size, shape and other physical attributes. When the bulk is blended, such as for liquids, randomly selected samples post bottling are analyzed for specific parameters. The samples are considered homogeneous when the individual sample results are within established criteria. Stability for the duration of the testing period is performed as required by our accreditation body A2LA. Samples are analyzed, stored for a period similar to the testing cycles and re-analyzed. These sets of results are verified to be within established criteria.
