New Committee on Aerospace Personnel Holds First Meeting
The new Committee F46 on Aerospace Personnel held its first meeting in August in Kansas City, Missouri. F46 standards will address the growing demand for high-skilled workers in areas such as aircraft assembly, avionics, IT systems, repair stations and more. World Standards Day 2015
ASTM will once again participate in World Standards Week (Sept. 25-Oct. 2), with the U.S. celebration of World Standards Day happening Oct. 1. The goal of World Standards Day is to raise awareness of the importance of standardization to the global economy and to recognize the critical role of the entire standards community, including business leaders, industry, academia and government. This year's theme is "Standards - The World's Common Language." Learn more.

Student Project Grant Submissions Due Oct. 31
A limited number of $500 grants are offered to graduate or senior level university students to help with student design projects that contain an ASTM standards component. The application deadline is Oct. 31. See instructions and application forms.

New MOU Signed with Barbados
Anthea Ishmael, director, Barbados National Standards Institution (BNSI), and James Thomas, president, ASTM, recently signed a new Memorandum of Understanding. “This MOU provides easier access to relevant standards and allows for the participation of our stakeholders in the ASTM standards development process,” says Ishmael. Through MOU agreements, global national standards bodies reference, adopt, or use ASTM standards as the basis of their national standards. More
